We get the lowdown on the show blending African rhythms to reveal the vibrance of Afrohouse.
African music has continued to outdo itself in all departments for quite some time, particularly as genres such as Amapiano and Gqom have taken hold of the world’s consciousness. Luckily, the T.O.N.E.S collective are on hand to capture the heat of the continent.
Based in Nottingham, the cohort of DJs, producers, musicians and visual artists have cultivated a following based on their ability to take fans on a journey through their selections, playing the latest and greatest of everything from Afro Tech to Soulful Afrohouse. How did the idea of your show come about?
We saw the show as a chance for us to present all realms of what we do as the T.O.N.E.S Collective. To begin with it will be my role to host the first few shows, but as we develop further into the series we will be welcoming more of our resident DJs from T.O.N.E.S and also introducing producers and DJs from around the world to give us a taste of their music selections.

Any time, that’s the beauty of Afrohouse. There’s a range of sub-genres and different vibes presented to us to follow but all are tied together with the spiritual connection the music radiates.
It’s a genre that works in all settings, all weathers, all time frames - whether switching off and vibing in your own consciousness or combined with groups of friends, dancing and celebrating the love of life and the present moment. It’s universal, it’s celebratory, it’s reflective and it’s spiritual.
