Discover: Down The Road

Sun-kissed UK garage and rattling Bass provided by Just Geo.

With an Instagram bio with the simple statement ‘really good at making people dance,’ Just Geo proves himself worthy of that distinction with every set he plays. The DJ and producer from London has had a musical mind for as long as he can remember, often hitting the keys of the keyboard in his childhood home, and has channelled this into a successful career spinning Bass, Garage and Grime.

On top of this, he runs his own DOWN THE ROAD label, launching the official showcase on Keakie, and has held down residencies at venues such as Tola, Boardmasters and Somerset House, while his productions have been supported by heavyweights such as SBTRKT, DJ Maximum, Boy Better Know, Alison Wonderland and Jamz Supernova. A sign that Just Geo is a force of his own.

We spoke to Just Geo about his new show, which celebrates the old and new of Bass music in equal, exciting measure.

Vibes, bangers and connections!
— Just Geo

What is the premise of DOWN THE ROAD?

Just Geo: It's all about shining a light on emerging talent and also celebrating forgotten classics, specifically within various UK club and music scenes. Nothing's off-limits either; from UK Garage and Grime to Drill, Dubstep, or Bass music, anything goes.

How did the idea of your show come about?

JG: DOWN THE ROAD started life as a free party where you could go and see headliners playing alongside emerging talent so this show is just an extension of that.

What do you want listeners to take from DOWN THE ROAD?

JG: We just want to help people discover some of the amazing music coming out of the UK right now.

Just Geo, host of DOWN THE ROAD

When is the ideal time for listeners to check it out?

JG: Whenever you need an instant party! It's always pretty high energy so definitely good for running or exercise as well.

What’s your favourite Keakie show that isn’t yours?

JG: I’ve been listening to Deeper Sounds of Nairobi, a pretty cool showcase of some of the electronic music coming out of all over Africa!

Describe DOWN THE ROAD in three words.

JG: Vibes, bangers and connections!
