Discover: Poly-Rythmo Club

Inspired by the hypnotic roots of African and Latin American music.

Emanating from the sunny plains of Barcelona, Poly-Rythmo Club is a place where fresh, positive and groovy sounds emerge from different parts of the world meet to enrich the soul. The show, now available on Keakie, shares the same name of the collective which birthed it, an events brand formed in 2017 specialising in all things Afro, Latin and Disco that has rocked venues across Spain and Europe.

Perfect for a lounge on the beach with a cold beverage in hand or a car journey on a summer’s day, Poly-Rythmo Club maximises a range of sounds for a delectable finish of sun-kissed vibrations. We spoke to the show’s host, Sonido Tupinamba, about its conception and uncovering the breadth of Afro-Latin sounds.

Positive vibes, the feeling of travelling to a special place, discovering new staff, remembering classics and entering a magic world.
— Sonido Tupinamba

What is the premise of Poly-Rythmo Club?

ST: To share positive music and make Keakie listeners happier with a blend of  Afro-Latin sounds. A place for groove enthusiasts with a breadth of styles ranging from Disco, Afrobeat, early House, Highlife, Champeta, Zouk, Soca, Kwaito, Brazilian beats and other funky flavours.

How did the idea of the show come about?

ST: Poly-Rythmo Club was originally founded as a dance club in 2017 by Sonido Tupinamba, an Argentinian DJ based in Barcelona. The idea of the club was to introduce alternative and happier sounds that were not present in the Barcelona club scene. For five years it has been touring in different venues around the city: Sala Apolo (Nitsa), Nica Bonay, Upload, Laut and La Terrazzza.

ST: Some of the DJ's that have played at PRC: Nu Genea, Frankie Francis, Norsicaa, Bosq, Fatnotronic, Sano, Tropicaza, Victor Kiswell, Trujillo, Paulo Superfly, Charles Maurice, Waxist and Dane amongst others. Poly-Rythmo Club also became a radio show at Radio Primavera Sound and with out brand new show on Keakie, we’re following the same musical path!

What do you want listeners to take from Poly-Rythmo Club?

ST: Positive vibes, the feeling of travelling to a special place, discovering new staff, remembering classics and entering a magic world.
